Thank you for my party!

BENEFITING: THE WAYNE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Apr 11, 2016
This year marks my big three-oh, and usually that means a crazy party with a t-rex and a trampoline (seriously, I want to be that guy). But I'll be honest, my ideal evening isn't a party; it's shoving good food in my face and then curling up in bed to watch Netflix with my husband and our cats. So instead of some lavish rooftop party or a trip to NYC to see Broadway, I want to donate the money I'd spend and do some real good.
Ok, let's get to it: Hi, my name is Emi, and I'm a nerd. Batman is most everyone's favorite hero, but I actually gotta say it's not the vigilante that's my role model, it's the man behind the mask: Bruce Wayne. He does real hero work for his community, and that's something I strive to do as well. (I mean, I wouldn't say "no" to wearing a cape, but his philanthropy has real world applications that I find very important and very necessary.)
So obviously when I heard about The Wayne Foundation I couldn't resist sending my support. The Wayne Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps victims of CSEC (the commercial sexual exploitation of children). They also provide direct services to victims such as food, new clothing, access to showers, a media center, mental health assistance, SNAP/ Medicare Benefit sign-up/renewal, family counseling, education assistance, and transportation to and from their center in Florida. These guys are real heroes.
What's all this got to do with my 30th birthday? Well, as well as me donating the money I'd waste on a party or tickets or a t-rex, I'm asking all my friends and family to please take that $5 coffee or $12 drink you would have bought me in celebration and put it towards The Wayne Foundation instead. (I don't really need those calories, anyway!)
Let's all be heroes. They aren't our role models for nothing.
