BENEFITING: Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN)
EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2017
Emma is 9 years old and was born with Primary Lymphedema in both legs and feet. Getting diagnosed was a fight and since then the medical battles haven't gotten easier. Instead of letting lymphedema control our lives we take every opportunity to, in Emma's words, "kick lymphedema's butt!" In 2014 we made our first walk across The Brooklyn Bridge to support Lymphatic Education & Research Network. Since then Emma has become a Youth Ambassador for LE&RN and spends most of her free time advocating for lymphedema. She's lobbied on Capitol Hill for the past 2 years for The Lymphedema Treatment Act attending over 30 congressional meetings thus far. She's my hero and her strength and persistence is beyond admirable. She will never stop fighting to make this better for everyone who suffers with a lymphatic disease. Through advocacy for research and proper care as well as annual fundraising she truly is a superhero. Please support her 2017 walk across The Brooklyn Bridge if you can. For us, research is our only hope for a healthier future for Emma.
