BENEFITING: The Against Malaria Foundation
Friends, I have everything I could want or need. This year, my one birthday wish is to raise money for the Against Malaria Foundation. Two years ago my friends and family helped raise $1,196 for charity:water which was sent to provide clean drinking water in Ethiopia. I was overwhelmed with joy at how much support and how many donations I received! I never expected to raise so much and words cannot express how grateful I am to everyone who supported the campaign. The campaign went so well that this year I'm doing it again! This year I'd like to fundraise to support a different organization: The Against Malaria Foundation. AMF has been consistently rated the best charity in the world by many sources including GiveWell, an organization which has spent thousands of hours evaluating charities extensively. AMF provides insecticide-treated mosquito nets to people who really need them. Each net costs about $2.50, lasts 3-4 years, and protects 2 people on average. AMF is evidence-based, cost-effective, addresses a dire need, effective, transparent, and they monitor the effectiveness of their work. Your money goes further and saves more lives with AMF than just about any other organization. What I'm asking: If you were planning on buying me a birthday present or even a birthday drink, please instead donate that amount of money to my campaign! All donations are welcome. Remember, just $2.50 provides 1 net for two people! Or consider donating $1 for every year I've been on this earth and supply 10 nets. I will be thankful for whatever you are able to give. For more information about AMF, check out their website: https://www.againstmalaria.com/ And Give Well's website to see which charities are top-rated: http://www.givewell.org/ Now is also the perfect time to announce that in August I signed the Giving What We Can Pledge and committed to donate 10% of my earnings to effective charities for the rest of my life. I am incredibly fortunate and I know the money will go father and do more good in the hands of an effective charity than it would in my bank account. Thanks for taking the time to read about my campaign!
