Sharing Our Lives

For more than 25 years, Emmaus has been providing permanent homes, respite care, in-home services, and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities and autism. We are a non-profit organization built upon a vision of people with and without disabilities sharing their lives. In living, working, and breaking bread together, people enjoy fellowship by sharing who they are and what they have with one another.

"Emmaus is about walking the path of life with people with disabilities. It's about breaking bread with people, literally at the table, but more importantly in the sharing of lives." -Karen Jacobsen, Executive Director

Every time we welcome a new resident into our Residential Program at Emmaus, we commit to providing the highest quality of care to that person for the rest of his or her life. That means sharing meals, working together, holding celebrations, facing our challenges, and building friendships. We value the unique gifts that each of our residents brings to this Community.

The Emmaus Non-Residential Programs allow individuals who are still living in family or indepedent homes to build skills and independence with the support of Emmaus staff members, while providing family caregivers with a support system and preventing family crises. Non-Residential Program participants have the become part of a larger community, building relationships and growing with others.

Emmaus welcomes you to become part of this community! Please contact us at to learn more about opportunities to volunteer or become a supporter of Emmaus.
