After-School All-Stars is launching a program that helps students test and launch their own businesses within a Maker Space. We are fundraising to purchase a laser cutter that students will use in the program. Through the Maker Space program, we empower students to fearlessly take action in a dynamic world, build success from failure, and not wait for adulthood to create real value. One of the key skills we teach is resource assessment - how to identify and utilize the valuable resources you already have, from existing skills (drawing, playing an instrument) to physical resources. Some students, particularly those from lower income families, have a more limited resource set and need increased access. With the laser cutter we are fundraising for, we will give our students a physical resource that they can leverage to unleash their creativity as the build their businesses.
