Empowerment Through Education
Organized by: Danelle Hauther
Give a man a fish and he has food for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he has the opportunity to acquire food for life. The same holds true for education beyond the 6th grade level. In the Dominican Republic, most children do not have the opportunity to pursue an education to the high school level. Even fewer can afford university. Yet someone needs to be prepared to run the businesses and the government.
Championed by the San Diego State University Sports MBA Program, the goal is to raise tuition money for at least one student per year to attend university. Total cost is only $4,500, yet provides exponential returns to the Dominican economy for years to come.
Please help us send some truly amazing young people to University and play a small part in enabling the emergence of an educated workforce that will be in a position to lead the cultural change necessary to overcome perpetual poverty and disparity.
