BENEFITING: ICAN CALIFORNIA ABILITIES NETWORK
For anyone who knows my brother Andy, you probably recognize him as independent, confident, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. Andy has grown into the person he is today thanks to the supportive community of the non-profit organization, ICAN. Executive Director Scott Elliott, his wife Louise, and their two children are a second family to Andy, going as far as welcoming him as a member of their household for over two years. As I prepare to run my first full marathon, the San Diego Rock 'n Roll on June 5th, I look forward to making the experience more meaningful than just a personal accomplishment. I am dedicating each mile to those who inspire me by facing challenges with courage and a smile, starting with my #1 buddy, Andy. Thanks to ICAN, Andy says "I CAN" when it comes to facing his challenges, and when my legs start to tire out at mile 22, I will think "I CAN," too! I am immensely grateful for the sense of belonging, independence, and confidence that ICAN has given Andy, and that is why I am dedicating my 26.2 mile race to ICAN's mission. No donation is too small, and every single penny is so appreciated. Thank you so much for supporting me, my buddy, and this wonderful cause. xo, Em ICAN is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the community for over 40 years, providing quality recreational, employment, empowerment, and socialization programs for Southern California’s adults with physical and developmental disabilities, meeting the needs of not just the individual, but his or her entire family.
