Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines leaving a trail of devastation. Thousands are dead and tens of thousands are left without food, water, or power. More than 4 million people have been impacted by the storm. The Philippines includes over 7,000 islands, making it difficult to know the full extent of damage. The greater concern will soon be infection and disease, because of standing water, downed power and communications, and a broken sanitation system. The shortage of food, water, and medical supplies has also become a problem already.
We are going to the Philippines to provide emergency medical aid to the effected areas. Carrying in supplies and medicine we will be teaming with clinics and rescuers already on the ground to expand the relief efforts.
We need to raise funding for our team of 4-6 people to travel to the country and get to those in need. Airfare is the biggest cost right now, along with lodging and food. Supplies are also a concern but many are already being donated.
