From the desk of Jeff Merck...
Hope all is well! It is that time of year again… I am raising money for my favorite charity Encounter Ministries! I continue to support Encounter monthly both with time and money as well as serve on their board. The work Encounter does is important both locally and abroad. I have set a goal of $20,000 this year. I am asking for your help to raise these funds to hit that goal. You can donate by using the donate button on this page. I always start by asking for you guys to make this easy on me and donate the entire $20,000 :) However, if that is not possible, I do ask that you consider giving generously as every donation makes a difference. To help achieve my goal this year, I will match a minimum of 15% of what is given toward my goal. This ministry is near and dear to my heart and I have benefited from it greatly over the past 13+ years. I try to pass that on to everyone I meet along the way and hopefully you have received some of that goodness when you have interacted with me over the years. Lastly, this year I will have Katie, my sweet beautiful beloved bride, joining my side - God's generous blessing to me for sure. She is a blessing to the Merck family as well as the Encounter community. Thank you in advance for your generous donation, it is greatly appreciated!

Chris Roe Director of Encounter writes...
For the last 13 years Encounter (www.encounterministriesonline.org) has worked from Alabama to Africa to play a vital role in the restoration of hearts in the world and bring freedom and life in Christ to hurting and hungry people. The money from this fundraiser will fuel mission work in 4 main areas: Spiritual Direction, College Ministry, Prison Ministry, and Humanitarian Outreach
Spiritual Direction: Encounter provides spiritual direction and intervention to couples, families, men, and pastors in crisis. Many don't have a safe place to discuss the struggles of their lives or help interpreting what God is up to in that life. We work closely with them to move toward freedom and a deeper life walking more intimately with Christ.
College Ministry: Encounter is entering it's fifth school year of ministry to college students. Johnny Lieske, our Director of College Missions is entering his third year working to reach students by creating an environment at The Campus House to provide a place for students to connect, study, engage God, and develop community.
Prison Ministry: Encounter trains, equips, and takes teams into prison to facilitate weekend events for inmates. Based on John Eldredge's Wild at Heart Boot Camp, inmates learn how to uncover the wounds dealt by the evil one, turn to God for healing, and to walk with him inside and outside the walls of the prison unit. All of these inmates are within 6 months of heading back into the free world. In the last six years we’ve served over 800 inmates.
Humanitarian Outreach: Encounter continues to raise funds, provide aid and increase awareness regarding the orphan, abandoned child, HIV Epidemic in Lesotho. Through our partnership with LifeTrek Global and The Bana Project of Lesotho basic humanitarian needs and educational fees are provided for villages, orphans, and abandoned children. Encounter also provides financial aid to local families in special circumstances.
AND STARTING FALL 2017
Project Oxygen: Through our developing project with Chris Corder and Todd Geralds (author of the book Woodlawn) we will be working to equip church leaders and individuals from students to small business and ministry team leaders to understand how they were created specifically in God's image, how they are wired from the heart up, and how to effectively connect and lead others with this new understanding.
