"The only thing tougher than being a Christian in college is being a lonely Christian in college."--Johnny Lieske
The Campus House ministry, led by Johnny Lieske provides a safe environment and community for students in and around the UAB campus. They can relax, study, serve, and connect with God and other young adults. Weekly meals, worship, small groups, as well as regular service and connection opportunities provide the foundation for developing and deepening meaningful relationship with God and each other. And we need your help.
Encounter has served in partnership with The Campus House to teach and connect with students for five years. Johnny is entering his third year serving as full-time Director of College Missions for Encounter at Campus House. This partnership has grown to involve more than just UAB students. It has included work with the Horizon School, serving the homeless, and prison ministry. Funds are required to continue this work and grow it even more.
I have committed to help raise at least $10,000. I would like you to consider making a donation, or even joining me by being a sponsor. I do not make a habit of asking for funds, but the work Johnny and his team are doing through the Campus House is blessing man and changing the lives of those on the southside of Birmingham.
What happens at Campus House?
Weekly Meal and Worship: Every Tuesday night students gather to share a meal, worship, and hear a message to deepen their understanding and relationship with God.
Small Groups: Sometimes inside and sometimes around the fire pit out back one night a week is devoted to small groups. Sharing life together, reading scripture, and building relationships our guys and girls small groups strengthen their walk with God and the community.
Fellowship/Connection: From retreats in the woods of central Alabama to movie nights to bowling or rock climbing Johnny, students, and the student leaders spend time together to connect and build friendships.
Service: Partnering with local ministries and churches students serve in the community. Most often this involves ministering to/feeding the homeless community of Birmingham. And, we are always looking for additional community needs to meet.
