Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, with as many as 1 in 9 older adults age 65 and older having the disease. The amount of those approaching older adulthood is increasing at a steady rate, making research on issues that occur in aging extremely important for the well-being of the population as a whole. Throughout the majority of my life, I have been interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Many of us have personally seen what those suffering from the disease have gone through, and it is heartbreaking. No one wants to endure this disease or see their family member slowly fade cognitively. With donating to this fundraiser, you can lend a hand in our hope for a cure. Donations will be used to provide in-home care grants throughout the United States and Canada to those providing care to their loved ones living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Donations will also provide a variety of support and awareness initiatives to help those currently affected by the disease. Finally, another part of the proceeds will go directly to cutting edge research through the Alzheimer’s Association’s International Research Grant Program.
