This really hits home for me. I grew up in a house hold where domestic violence was a norm. As I grew up, I married and also experienced domestic violence in my home. I started to talk to friends about it and realized that it was not normal. As a child, all I wanted was Tranquility in the home. I would run away to my happy place where there was peace. This is how I grew up, this is what kept me going. As an adult, the same thing would happen. My mind would run away to find that peace and Tranquility. I remember my mother, myself, and my 3 brother running away from home with no money and no where to go. We found out about the YWCA. They provided shelters for families in our situation. I have been there and this is why I would like pitch in, to pay it forward to those who have helped me and my family in our situation. Lets all make a difference and give other families a fighting chance to succeed.
