BENEFITING: EK DISHA NONPROFIT INC
On December 16th, 2012 - Jyoti Singh Pandey was brutally gang raped by 6 men. On Dec 29th, 2012 Jyoti died as a result of the attack. The National Crime Records Bureau states every 22 minutes a rape occurs in India, while many rapes go unreported.
In the same vein, it is projected that over two million children and women are forced into sexual trafficking in India. Jyoti was considered a sister, the victims of sexual trafficking are our sisters too. The NGO, Prajwala mission is to serve women and children who are victims of trafficking. Prajwala emerged as an anti-trafficking organization, which is formed by five pillars: prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, and advocacy.
