Miles with Maeve offers customized endurance sports training programs for athletes with big goals and big hearts for pregnancy & infant loss charities.
Garrett and Christine McAlister founded Miles with Maeve after the sudden loss of their daughter, Maeve, 37 weeks into their first full-term pregnancy. While in the hospital room waiting to meet his daughter Garrett strained to think of a way to cope with the grief, ultimately leading him to revisit how it once seemed impossible to complete an Ironman triathlon. A decade later and with 3 Ironman Louisville finishes, he knew that he had the strength somewhere inside to take on the unthinkable task of learning to live without Maeve and wanted to share that message of hope with others.
By supporting a Miles with Maeve athlete you're providing resources and education to bereaved parents, their loved ones, and their healthcare providers. In addition to funding community outreach, your generous donations will go to the organizations below who've provided great care to Maeve's parents. Nearly 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss every year and your contributions offer a sliver of possibility to millions of people who are learning to cope with a similar tragedy.
- A donation of $25 provides sewing supplies for heirloom Little Angel Gowns
- A donation of $50 can sponsor a family for a night at Faith's Lodge retreat center
- A donation of $50 sends a care package to a grieving family in the hospital through Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
- A donation of $100 provides the funds for 2 custom-made teddy bears, weighted to a child's birth weight, through Molly Bears
If you've ever wanted an opportunity to honor the loss of a loved one's child, or even your own, we'd love to help you achieve your own impossible endurance goal while you share your story. Learn more at: mileswithmaeve.org/join-us/.
