BENEFITING: THE ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL OF BOSTON
Help some amazing English High School Students travel to the Czech Republic and Germany this April!
Sapere Aude, Latin for Dare to Know, is an afterschool humanities & travel program for Juniors and Seniors at English High started in 2014.
The Program has two parts: one is a weekly afterschool college style seminar that focuses on the study of history, philosophy, and art and the essential questions: what does it mean to be human? What is the best form of community? How can going on a journey transform us?
The second part of the program is a 10 day long trip to Europe over April break to see first hand the cultural and historical sites of Western Civilization that we have studied in the course. The students plan all aspects of the travel itinerary--researching sites to visit, in country transportation, and managing a daily budget.
The trip costs about $2,500 per student. While our students are full of talent, potential, and hope, they lack the ability for pay for such a trip. Over 75% of our student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch. We need your help to make this once in a lifetime experience a reality.
