Kwithu Community Center tutors 277 orphans and vulnerable children, three times a week. This after-school tutoring program provides remedial and supplemental education in reading, writing, and math to help students excel in their studies and compete for available educational opportunities. Many of the Kwithu children attend schools that are overcrowded and under-resourced. Despite being administered by the government, the schools require the payment of substantial fees. Under these circumstances, it can be a significant hardship for families or guardians to find the money necessary for these children to attend school. Additionally, the quality of the education they receive makes it difficult for students to be prepared for the next level of education, whether secondary school or university. The services provided by the tutoring program helps our students leverage their education to shape their future in positive ways and has already made it possible for students from Kwithu Community Center to test into Mzuzu International Academy, northern Malawi's only internationally accredited secondary school.
Maloto's Young Professionals Board is excited to support the Kwithu Community Center by raising money for tables, chairs, an overhead projector, one laptop, and reading books at all levels from kindergarten to middle school. Please choose to support the work of Kwithu Community Center and the educational success of these children by helping us send these much needed supplies.
