Rebecca Shields wrote -We are a are a horse rescue that is organized as a 5013c (nonprofit corporation) in the State of California; unfortunately, due to our monthly costs we have not been able pay the filing fee for the Letter of Determination of Status from the IRS; this fee can be as much as $1200. Without this letter we have little chance of receiving contributions or sponsorship from large corporations and cannot apply for grants.
Our goal is to raise funds to resolve this issue; an additional $800 for teeth floating and worming medication; the balance would provide approximately 25 days of hay. Having a "hay buffer" would allow us a buffer to contact local groups about Epona Rescue, garner more support; and, in general make the public more aware of our existence and the plight horses are facing. At the moment our days are spent scraping together funds to survive and this is impeding our ability to grow. We receive calls every day from people who need to place a horse or know of a horse in jeopardy; more often than not we must say no because we simply cannot afford another horse, regardless of available space.
We are on Facebook @ Epona Rescue in Indio, California
Any donation is sincerely appreciated. Our organization is !00% volunteer; there are NO salaries. 100% oft the donations Epona Rescue receives go directly for the support of the horses.
