BENEFITING: CREW BOOSTERS OF WINTER PARK INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 30, 2015
Since its founding in 1962 Winter Park Crew has been a positive force in the lives of many young people in our community. Starting with just enough boys to fill one shell, our team has grown to support 120-150 middle and high school students. While focusing on our heritage of sportsmanship, our rowers develop mental and physical resolve, a collaborative spirit, and learn to conduct themselves with maturity and respect for others. Winter Park Crew has won 34 State Championships, more than any other high school athletic program in the State of Florida and our athletes have gone on to compete at prestigious collegiate rowing programs.
Winter Park Crew, now entering our 54th year of championship rowing, receives no financial support from state and local sources including WPHS and Orange County Public Schools. We have always been a volunteer-run organization and we rely entirely on dues, individual rower fundraising and support from the community to fund our annual operating expenses which include: scholarships, regatta fees, uniforms, meals at local regattas, equipment transport costs, equipment maintenance and repair, property costs, insurance, and most importantly retention of our top notch coaching staff.
Critical to the success of our program is all of the equipment needed to get our athletes on the water every day: shells, oars, shoes, cox boxes, launches, and more plus equipment needed for their land training. The annual costs for keeping our current equipment in top condition along with purchasing replacement equipment is solely supported through fundraising efforts like Click for Crew.
From now until October 30th, we are reaching out to you: our alumni, friends, family and the Winter Park Community to help sustain this exceptional program. 100% of the revenue from this online fundraiser will directly support the purchase of new equipment and related expenses for our growing team. Consider giving $85.00 for a new pair of shoes, or $500.00 for a cox box or $50, $100, or $1000 toward a new shell!
THIS YEAR we can now add world rowing champions to our list of alumni! Former Winter Park crew coxswain Katelin Snyder will be competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio coxing for the US Women’s National Team. Mention Katelin Snyder when you make a donation to our Equipment Fund and we’ll make a contribution to help Kate fund her Olympic bid.
Thank you for your Support!
