Roxana Dantes wrote -Did you know that 96% of the jobs in the US are created by 4% of the workforce? This miracle workforce is composed of scientists and engineers. To support the US economy to stay competitive we need to act fast. During the 20th Century, the United States was the world’s most innovative, educated and competitive nation and made up to 25% of the world’s economy. According to recent research, the US ranks 52nd in the quality of math and science and 27th in the number of students receiving undergraduate degrees in science and engineering. But what is more striking is that only a very few of these engineers are girls.
To generate effective leaders, the innovators, the job creators and the game changers of tomorrow, we have to start young!
Equita is advancing girls in leadership and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and math) and creating the next generation of game changers. The state-of-the-art program for girls between age 6-14 introduces them to leadership, entrepreneurship, design thinking and STEAM, and is tailored to critical developmental stages. We trigger their curiosity and critical thinking in science and technology with hands on workshops and trainings.
We are a team of Stanford Professors, Alumni, and child development specialists; we are mothers, sisters, fathers, grandparents, cousins, and friends who see the immense talent and drive that girls have; and we, together, want to make a difference in their lives and a lasting impact on our society.
With your donation you will make a difference for the girls of the future! Your donations will help us develop and deliver a critical educational program and build a platform to offer our program to girls everywhere in the US. Your generosity will create a better future for girls and ultimately advance innovation and job creation for our entire society.
