Hi everyone, let's help people in need and put an end to human trafficking. http://okoboji200.org/why-we-ride/
Also, please(!) contact me if you're interested in participating or volunteering! This is the inaugural Minneapolis Chapter (aka MPLS200, what up!) and we'd love to have your help and support getting it off the ground!
How does my donation stop human trafficking?
"Our response to this horrible problem has been to continue to sacrifice ourselves physically and use those efforts to benefit the oppressed in Nepal and in Southeast Asia.
We have raised over $220,000 in the last 5 years with $110,000 of that being raised in 2016. That money has been used to support a safe house for sex traffic survivors in Nepal and to fully fund a film about trafficking awareness called Don’t Get in the Van. Hundreds of lives of been positively impacted by OK200. It is not a stretch to say that lives are being saved because of your support and OK200."
Human trafficking is the trade of human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation, forced labor, or child soldiering. This modern form of slavery is a world wide issue and at its highest recorded levels in human history.
- An estimated 27 million adults & 13 million children worldwide are victims of human trafficking. That's over 7 times the total population of Minnesota.
- Approximately 75-80% of human trafficking is for sex.80% of those sold into sexual slavery are under 24, some are as young as six years old.
- An estimated 30,000 victims of sex trafficking die each year from abuse, disease, torture & neglect.
I ride to raise funds, to support survivors, raise awareness, and fight human trafficking locally and wherever it exists.
