Eric Jr's Fight!
Organized by: Dominique Balldin
Saturday March 17, 2016 Eric Jr was admitted to Seton Hospital ER in Austin, Texas because his breathing was obstructed. Within an hour of his arrival he was taken back to surgery and received a tracheotomy to assist him in breathing. Saturday the pathologist confirmed everyones worst nightmare that the polyps were squamous cell carcinoma (cancer). This type of cancer was classified as a Stage 4 (T4a) cancer of the larynx. Saturday April 2 he will have a very lengthy surgery (laryngectomy) to remove his entire larynx, vocal cords, among other things. The 6 weeks of radiation will begin about a month after if the surgery goes as planned. Eric will have no voice after this surgery because they will remove his vocal cords and he will have a new breathing pathway through a permanent hole in his neck. We are all very hopeful that with new technologies and Eric's determination he will not only BEAT CANCER but find a way to TELL us all about it..
The outreach for Eric Jr. has been overwhelming. He has SO many incredible people supporting him and cheering him on. There have been so many offers to set up this fund to help him cover the things he has not yet thought about. The surgery, and treatments alone will be costly but also he will be unable to work for a while. He will have to temporarily live in Austin for treatment indefinitely and will have to find a place to live until he can return to his home. We guesstimated a dollar amount to raise to help cover him for the next 6-9 months but honestly don't have a clue about what his treatments and medicines will begin to look like, yet alone cost. ANY amount of monetary donation will help him think less of this financial burden along his recovery. We all know that Eric does not like to ask for favors, and has a very hard time accepting help- that is why we are strategically setting this up while he is under anesthesia HA. kidding- a little...Hopefully this will allow him to focus on healing and getting better and not sweat the bills for a few months. We all know that he CAN and WILL beat this terrible disease and WIN his battle!
