THE STORY:

National Foundation for Cancer Research wrote -

Erik Seastead died on March 24, 2016, after a three-month battle with glioblastoma, among the most aggressive and deadly forms of brain cancer.  In addition to running 49 marathons and countless other races, he brought others along for the ride and inspired them to do things they never thought possible. His goal was to run his 50th marathon before he died, leading his friends to the finish – as usual – as they pushed him in a wheelchair.

Now we will finish this race for him, running as Erik’s team.  We were disheartened to watch Erik slow down, quickly loosing motor function and requiring the use of a wheelchair, and next being bed ridden.  But, after talking with his wife, Janice, Erik insisted that we finish his 50th with him and for him, at his favorite marathon on May 15th at the Sugarloaf Marathon in Kingfield, Maine.

To honor him and all those affected by glioblastoma, the team will be raising money to fund research into new treatments and ultimately a cure.  Erik’s family and friends will be at Sugarloaf to cheer us on.  Please donate to the cause and help fight this terrible disease in honor of dear friend and fellow marathoner, Erik.

The goal is a modest $30,000.  Honor Erik and all those fighting glioblastoma with a contribution of $10, $50, $100 or more.
