THE STORY:

Erin Oleson wrote -

Please join me in supporting a worthy cause. Teen Challenge has been in the business of saving lives for years. Coming from addiction issues of my own, I am well aware of how hard the fight is. I graduated the program in 2010 and completed TCLI in 2011. I finally found the freedom I'd been seeking. The war addicts face is very real. There really is an epidemic going on in our communities and taking the lives of too many, way too soon. The list of names keeps on lengthening and the loss to their families is irreplaceable. This year I walk in remembrance of my closest friend, future fiancé, and father to my child Darron Luhrsen. Darron's lifelong struggle with drug and alcohol addiction ended August 12, 2013. His funeral was on his 27th birthday, 11 days before our son turned 1.

I also walk for people still struggling. I hope and pray that Darron's story would be a reality to those, and also a story of hope. For we know God's plan is perfect and He's fully trustworthy. I'm forever thankful that Teen Challenge was the place where he gave his life to Jesus. I smile knowing that he's with Him now.Thank you again for your support and I hope to see you there! - See more at: http://www.crowdrise.com/inhonorofdarron/fundraiser/erinoleson1#sthash.hUw30jPW.dpuf

I know Darron will be smiling down on you pushing his Mama Karen in a wheelchair, so she can do her 1st 5K! When he was young, we took him to Kansas City to World's Of Fun Amusement Park. He kept wanting to push my wheelchair there. When he pushed me, I thought I was going to tip over and Steve had a hard time keeping up! Good memory! He was always very thoughtful about my legs - telling me to sit, shoveling my sidewalk, etc. Last time he was out helping clean up after a storm, he set a chair up for me in the middle of the yard so I could watch them cut down a tree! Thank you for helping me out, my friend! P.S. The memories of taking photos in our studio at your house, with Darron, Erin, and Chance (some even before he was born :) will always be cherished! I am glad that Darron got to meet you and Larry and you got to meet him! Also a fond parenting moment of when he was young and Steve & I dropped him off at Ashley Hall's for a swim party. He had many of the same friend's as your Kellie and our Kelly! Of course, he wasn't happy that I called Ashley's mom, Vicki, to make sure there were going to be adult 's present!!! 5 years ago
