On Saturday October 15th, I will be sea kayaking a 13.5 mile race course around Alcatraz and Angel Island on San Francisco Bay in support of Environmental Traveling Companions (E.T.C.) a non-profit organization that creates accessible outdoor adventures for all. Last year, with the help of my family and friends i was able to raise 1,000 dollars for E.T.C. and this year I hope to raise even more! The money E.T.C. raises from the regatta goes towards scholarships for disadvantaged youth and people with disabilities so that they too can enjoy the great outdoors and grow in the same ways I have.
I first came into contact with E.T.C. last summer when I went through E.T.C.’s 24-Day Expedition Youth LEADership trip and I learned how to kayak, whitewater raft, backpack and to step forward as a leader and a steward for the environment. After my trip, I was hooked and promptly joined E.T.C.'s YouthFellowship program where I spent the last year in a fellowship with other teens guiding trips and learning how to better serve our community. The fellowship is sadly over, but it's now my time to give back to the community thats given me so much by guiding trips and with your help raising money to fund scholarships.
E.T.C. is a non-profit 501©(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible and you will be formally acknowledged with a thank you letter from E.T.C. after the event. For additional information on E.T.C.’s work or if you would rather sponsor me through the E.T.C. website, please check out our website at www.etctrips.org/regatta. You can also send me a check with whatever amount is comfortable to you- please make all checks payable to Environmental Traveling Companions and put my name in the memo.
Thank you for your consideration to help me reach my goal so I can be successful for the Paddle-a-thon; your donations can make a difference in the lives of children and adults alike.
