In 2003 my mother lost her battle to brain cancer. She is the woman who has shaped my life, gave me unconditional love and who taught me compassion, empathy, humility and an ability to put myself in other people’s shoes. She taught me to step up to the plate to help others in need and those less fortunate. I am a better person for having had her as a mother, as a best friend and as a living example. I am eternally grateful to her for making me the women I am today. In memorial on November 2nd, I will be running the NYC Marathon with Team STOMP the Monster. STM is a charitable organization that provides financial and other support to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers when they need it the most: during their brave fight with the disease. Seth Grumet founded STOMP the Monster in 2010 while completing his own cancer treatment. Like my family, he had lots of family support, but he became aware that not many people are fortunate to have the same experience. STOMP the Monster has helped cancer patients and their families in many ways, such as paying for healthy food, utility bills, gas, rent, even medications and transportation. Volunteers run the organization, therefore all funds raised go directly to cancer patients and their families. Make a donation to STOMP the Monster. No donation is too small, and no donation is too big! Thank you for your constant love and support that you have given to me. Together we can build a strong support system and help lighten the financial burden while easing patients’ minds and lifting their spirits.
