BENEFITING: GREENWICH VILLAGE YOUTH COUNCIL INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 12, 2013
The "Mudders" (Josh, Angel, Robert, Ross, Ryan, Abiy, and Fits) will be running the Tri-state Tough Mudder on October 12th. They have been training hard and will be putting their bodies on the line to raise money for Essex Street Academy cultural exchange program. Please support and sponsor these brave (yet foolish) souls as they defy the elements -- including a 12 mile run through ice, electricity, and mud.
Essex Street Academy (ESA) is a progressive high school located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. A small group of students from ESA will be embarking upon a journey to explore French culture and language in depth. These students are dedicated to organizing a study aboard trip for spring 2014 and wish to create a project that will debunk common myths and stereotypes that surround both French and American cultures. While a majority of the students in this group experience extreme financial hardships, their motivation and resolve to make this trip possible is truly admirable. Students who face insurmountable financial challenges deserve the same enriching experiences as their counterparts who have access to greater financial means.
