In December, my very good friend Bob lost his brother Michael to a 4 year fight with Brain Cancer. I never met Michael but was allowed to hear the story of his life and his struggle at his memorial last month. It is in his memory that I race this June and hope to raise some much needed funds for reasearch to end this awful disease.
In June, I will be racing in the world famous Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. From the infamous prision known as "the Rock", I will be swimming the shark-infested waters of San Francisco Bay, riding the hills of the Presidio and running along the beaches near the Golden Gate Bridge, including the grueling 400 step Sand Ladder.
Along the way I am hoping to raise funds for B*Cured. Since some of you know me as B-Squared, double B or just simple BB, this group spoke to me. I have been blessed with great health and have tried to use the events I participate in to help support those who have no been as fortunate.
In memory of Michael and with Cancer survivors in my family, I humbly ask you to help in any way you can. Their inspirational story is below.
Your bud, B*Squared.
B*CURED builds awareness about brain cancer and funds research to develop a cure. Both the founders, Debbie and Melissa, lost a parent to glioblastoma, the most lethal and the most common form of brain cancer. Now 3 years and 3 grants for cutting edge brain cancer research later, B*CURED is making important strides in the race to cure brain cancer.
Our B*CURED Escape from Alcatraz Team is dedicating their athletic and fundraising talents to get the word out and to fund more critical brain cancer research. They are awesome so please support them generously! Visit us at www.bcured.org - Debbie and Melissa
