Esperanza Children's Home - Food and Supplies Drive
Organized by: Katie Granado
Esperanza para los Ninos was founded in 1991 by a North American missionary named Jeff. He started caring for the children in his small trailer. He soon realized that he could not care for them all by himself and he asked for help from others. Thus began a journey of love and devotion to children who often live in unbearable home situations. Esperanza exists to give them safe refuge and spiritual nourishment. These children have been victims of violent home situations, abuse, and homes torn apart by addictions, divorce, and abandonment. Children come to stay at Esperanza through the Mexican authorities and sometimes from their parents. Now in 2015, Esperanza has grown to 60 beds and is filled with love the children that live there. We recently visited Esperanza Children's Home with donations and enjoyed a meal with the children and the staff. Talking with Guillermo I asked him what was most needed "food, always food" he told me. Spending the day at the home and speaking with Guillermo and his wife has sparked this fundraiser. There are border regulations that prevent visitors from bringing meat, dairy and produce to donate to the home. Two other difficulties they face are the electric bill and gas / oil for the vehicles that transport the children to school. Finally, clothing is difficult to purchase in Puerto Penasco and is something that is also in need. The money raised here will go directly to the basic needs of the children and the staff. We will be taking the items that are easiest to purchase in the States with us and grocery shop in Mexico. Mission Statement The mission of Esperanza is to care for and develop the children in their charge to become adults who will lead solid Christian lives, helping others, caring for those in need around them, and being good citizens. Please consider making a donation to this wonderful home.
