EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2012
I'll be running an 8K on December 1st to raise funds for the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC). Please help me support this amazing group and important cause!
The race takes place during the Fête de l'Escalade, an annual Geneva celebration commemorating the defeat of a suprise attack by troops sent by the Duke of Savoy one fateful night in December 1602.
To honor the brave Genevoise who beat out these enemies of the Republic, I'm raising funds to help IGLHRC combat discrimination and violence against LGBT folks worldwide. We have a long way to go in the U.S. to eliminate the last vestiges of inequality, but we've come a long way. In some of the toughest environments on earth, IGLHRC advocates for women, men, and youth still struggling through discrimination, abuse, and imprisonment because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
We had the honor of meeting leaders from IGLHRC in Geneva recently, and their commitment and accomplishments are truly remarkable. Please share what you can to support their fantastic work!
