Everett Community Growers: Growing our Community One Garden at a Time!
Everett Community Growers (ECG) members are expanding their activities in 2018, and we need your support! We have over 60 Everett families and community groups who want to participate in our community garden and farm programs. We are working to add space at our two community gardens (the Florence Street Community Garden and Tremont Street Community Garden) and expand the growing space at Northern Strand Community Farm in spring of 2018! It takes a lot of resources -- wood, soil, tools and other equipment and supplies, and people -- to make the gardens beautiful and healthy community gathering spaces for our growers and neighbors! Our goal is to not only offer space for Everett residents to grow their own fresh healthy food, but also to combat health inequities and promote racial justice and community ownership in our diverse City. In our two small community gardens we have residents who speak 5 different languages and come from 8 different countries, and we all learn so much from one another - new words, new foods and new traditions. ECG is supported by the fiscal sponsorship of La Comunidad, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization working to provide a better future to the Latino-American community in the city of Everett and surrounding areas, and is a program of the Everett Community Health Partnership through the Cambridge Health Alliance Department of Community Health Improvement.
