Shannan Boyer wrote -Having grown up in Iowa, the great outdoors were a part of my everyday life. Tent camping, boating, swimming in the creek, catching tadpoles - these were things we did everyday and we didn't think twice about it.
Through Camp Ernst, I have been able to give these same experiences to my children, Sean (11) and Brady (8).
We first discovered Camp Ernst four years ago and it was one of the best things that could have happened to our family. It all started with Sean. Sean got his first experience with Camp Ernst when he attended Spring Fling, a weekend-long camp experience. He came home more confident, more secure, and excited and proud of all he had accomplished. It was that weekend that first sparked his love for the outdoors.
From there our love and involvement with Camp Ernst continued to grow. Our entire family has attended Family Camp, and both Sean and Brady now go to Camp multiple times each year. I even joined the board. That is how much I believe in the impact they have on children.
My goal this year is to help send a child from the City of Covington to Camp Ernst this summer for a week. Camp has had quite an impact on my children, and I think it's important that every child have the opportunity to experience, not only the Camp Ernst environment, but to have a chance to experience the great outdoors - biking, kayaking, lake swimming, creek walking, archery, horseback riding and so much more.
Here is where I need your help. I am hoping that you will help me raise $595, the amount needed to send one child to Camp Ernst for a week this summer. With your help we can give an amazing (life changing) camp experience (and tons of great memories) to a young girl or boy who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
