Every Mickle Mek a Muckle 2015
Organized by: Melissa Garza-Allen
Friends! Next month, I'll be in Jamaica again! This time, with 23 awesome folks-- some familiar faces and some new friends-- serving in St. Mary parish. (Michael, Molly and Max will be holding down the fort in Houston.)
Each of us has paid our own way and some of our churches have sponsored the trip. As I'm the only one going from my church, I want to do my part to raise funds for building supplies and hot meals for all the kids attending bible school. This year, we will be building a secure concrete wall around the school to keep the "littles" safe and to protect the school's assets.
Donating to my little fundraiser is a wonderful way to reach across the ocean and touch the lives of kids and families who need assistance. The Jamaican people are full of joy, hope and love, and they are grateful for what they have. We just want to help them out a bit! Last year we served almost 200 kids at two primary schools. While they're with us, we feed them healthy lunches: chicken, rice, bananas and sweet delicious homemade bread. We have a lot of little mouths to feed and to reuse my phrase from last year, that means we need a lot of mickles!
What's a mickle? It's a little bit. And a muckle is a lotta bit. "Every mickle mek a muckle" is an island phrase that means "every little bit counts". Whatever little bit you can donate means a muckle to me. (Of course, if you happen to have a muckle, we’ll take that too.)
Thanks so much for supporting our mission. I can’t wait to share pictures with you and tell you all about our trip!
Please take a minute to check out the pictures and to watch the video that one of our team members made from our trip last year!
