BENEFITING: EMILY WHITEHEAD FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: Emily Whitehead
EVENT DATE: Nov 18, 2017
Hi all you beautiful people that I am fortunate to call friends,
As you know, through Lachlans journey its become my life's work to fight Childhood Cancer. Until my final step, my final breath, I will not stop fighting for the kids. I run many races, none more meaningful than when I run for the kids. On November 18th I will once again run the Phiiladaelphia Half Marathon for the Emily Whitehead Foundation, the amazing work they do and to support my good friends Tom and Kari Whitehead and the walking miracle of a daughter, Emily. Please see her story below and consider donating to make a difference in the life of a child. Any level of generosity provides hope, and as always is greatly appreciated. My goal is $500 dollars and I have 9 days. Will you help me get there?...I and many families you will never meet will be forever grateful. Help us #activatethecure....We have work to do.

Emily Whitehead is a 3-time leukemia survivor. She was the first child in the world to receive a breakthrough T-cell immunotherapy to finally beat her leukemia. Emily is alive today because of cancer research. We saw firsthand how cancer research is saving lives; however, there are still children losing their lives every day because of limited treatment options for high-risk patients like Emily. Children who have their cancer return are harder to treat because their cancer becomes resistant to standard therapies. Cutting edge treatments like the T-cell therapy are needed to help cure these children but funding is limited. Childhood cancer receives only 4% of the National Cancer Institute budget for research. Many researchers rely on grants from non-profit organizations and private donors who are dedicated to raising funds for childhood cancer research.
