THE STORY:
Exposing Hope wrote -
It can be easy this time of year to take the safety of our friends and family for granted. Yet, over the Thanksgiving holiday, over 285,000 people were displaced in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This Holiday Season, Exposing Hope has one thing on our wish list: to help families in the DRC find shelter, food and safety.
The rebel group M23, which has been found guilty of “summary executions, rapes, and forced recruitment,” took over the city of Goma. Thousands of children are now orphaned and separated from family, homeless and vulnerable to disease, sexual violence, and forced military enlistmentment.
In the month of December, our goal is to raise $8,000 to put to the Safehouse Project. These safe houses will provide hundreds of women counseling, medical referral and essential materials to help them rebuild their lives.
Those who abuse human rights assume the world will turn a blind eye to their atrocities. But at Exposing Hope, we shine a spotlight on what they have done, and provide support for victims.
But we can’t do it alone; we need your help to change hundreds of lives this holiday season!
