Organized by: Amanda Sunny
ExquisiteWater Holiday Benefit
December 27, 2016
EVENT DATE Oct 01, 2017
In their twenties, Amanda Sunny and Brittany Wilson, are already global innovators for clean and safe drinking water worldwide. Their startup project is called ExquisiteWater, based in Dallas, TX, and they urgently need airfare to Nigeria.
Recent graduates in Public Health and Science, Amanda and Brittany have received and honored a prestigious invitation to present their globally relevant and revolutionary clean water project at Nigeria's 2015 Anambra State Health Summit. As recent graduates, they urgently need money for airfare to Nigeria and for ground transportation, asap. Amanda, Brittany and the ExquisiteWater Research Team need to fly out of Dallas, TX on September 1, 2015.
WHAT WILL THEY ACCOMPLISH IN NIGERIA? After collecting local water samples in Nigeria and analyzing them against WHO standards as well as stricter EPA standards, Amanda and Brittany will present their specific unsafe water findings and a globally relevant solution, with intervention options, to Nigeria's government and health care leaders of Africa.
ADDRESSING WORLD PROBLEM: According to our research*, more than 780 million people lack access to potable (drinkable) water worldwide. In many parts of the world, like rural areas in Nigeria, access to a clean water source simply isn’t available.
ADDRESSING AFRICA'S PROBLEM: Most notably in Africa, over 340 million people live without daily access to potable water, and women spend more than 200 million hours a day, collectively, gathering water. These are hours that could be spent adding income to already devastated families and communities.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Anambra State Health Summit will allow us a platform for sharing our multi-cultural science and public health project with top government leaders. Our team will perform water clean-up activities not currently performed by local governments in Nigeria. Our beta project presents outreach education at the village level, scientific water testing, and options for intervention, while significantly reducing rampant water-borne diseases such as typhoid and others, improving local health, and realizing a significant cost-savings to the Nigerian Government and its agencies. This project protocol will be easily replicated in other high-need areas around the world.
PROJECT SCIENCE: While in the field, our teams will utilize portable water-testing kits to test WATER for total suspended solids (TSS), free chlorine, total chlorine, total coliform (TC), hydrogen sulfide, total hardness, pH, and nitrates and nitrites. Each team will be assigned a field kit. Testing for hard metals will be done once the team has arrived back in the US. We will document our process and findings, make a report to the Anambra State Government and Health Commissioner Official; and provide options for intervention solutions by household and by village. Our team will provide annual target area checkups to ensure use of intervention methods and to track the decrease in local waterborne disease via local hospitals and clinics.
PLEASE HELP US HELP THE WORLD!
