Eye surgery for Police employment
Organized by: Aaron Chapman
At the age of 41 I have finally found my calling. OPP or RCMP policing. I have found I have a talent and natural aptitude for helping serve and protect. So i rebooted my life. I have lost 105 lbs. I go to the gym 3 times a week or more. I studied and practiced and passed the police physical despite being the oldest one in the room. In order to pass this testing I had to force myself to go farther than I ever thought I could. Now I am crippled by something out of my control and no matter how much I try I cannot make the vision required minimum. I am a candidate for laser surgery however its out of my price range. At $1290 per eye plus taxes I am stuck at the outside looking in. I hate asking for help, however I hate failing my family more. With 2 children with autism me and my wife have done everything to meet the emotional and financial challenges ourselves. But that is now also no longer enough. My wife has been off work with a forearm injury and carpel tunnel surgery since June 2016. Her doctor telling her she can't return to work as originally planned, and physical therapy is now required as her forearm has not healed as he hoped. So in order to upgrade my career to earn more for my family, and also help the public I am left with asking for the help of stangers in hopes of moving forward as a OPP or RCMP police constable.
