BENEFITING: Vermont Workers' Center and Migrant Justice
ORGANIZER: Vermont Workers' Center and Migrant Justice
EVENT: Exercise Your Rights
If you know me, you know that I dedicate a lot of time and energy to the Vermont Workers' Center. For the past few years I've been living and breathing the movement, and I believe in what we're doing in my heart of hearts. BUT I've also recently thought a lot about how to make my involvement more healthy and sustainable for the long haul. I've been trying to keep my mind healthy by reading fiction, writing, counseling, and spending time with friends and family – and keep my body healthy by doing lots of dance, riding my bike, and YOGA! That brings us to this fundraiser.
This fundraiser brings together my love of the movement and my desire to be healthy and strong. I've decided to do yoga for 11 days straight (more of a challenge than I originally imagined, honestly) and ask all of you, my friends and family, to donate to keep me motivated and support my work.
You can check out some of my semi-random thoughts on being sustainable in the movement and yoga at my Tumblr: http://daryamarcha.tumblr.com/
Will you donate whatever you can today to make me feel supported in doing this work?
Here's one way of thinking about your donations, in terms of my favorite yoga poses:
$50.00 – Wild Thing. An exuberant donation for an exuburant, back-bending and arm-strengthening pose!
$30.00 – Shoulder Stand. A pose for the long haul, you should hold this pose for at least 5 mins to drain and refresh all the blood from your lower body.
$20.00 – Triangle Pose. Deep twists combat depression. So does grassroots fundraising! I love this twisting pose!
$10.00 – Happy Baby. Every little bit counts. This is a relaxed pose that's used to wind down at the end of a practice, but is very satisfying.
$5.00 – Cosmic Egg. For the price of an expensive coffee drink, you can seriously make my day!
If you can't give, I understand! All of you already support me in many ways. Thank you and hugs!
