Dearest Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
As some of you may know (via my training woes and complaints), I am now officially less than three months out from attempting my first NYC Marathon. Yes, every distance run I complete from now through November 1st will be the longest run of my life… woof.
Fortunately, I am able to channel my determination and energy not only on the race, but also on raising awareness and funds to support FACES. My brother has been an inspiration to me throughout his life as we spent countless hours bonding in hospital rooms for everything from routine check-ups to heart surgery recoveries (plural!!). As a rising High School Senior, he joined the millions of Americans who suffer from seizures.
The doctors have not been able to determine the true cause-- so he's added yet another prescription to his regimen. He has accepted every challenge in his way head on. His attitude inspires me to push myself to help raise awareness and funds to support research and the care of patients/families who battle with Epilepsy and Seizures daily. For more information on FACES, see below!
Thank you to everyone for all your love and support!
FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) at NYU Langone Medical Center is dedicated to helping people and families living with epilepsy, through research, education, and clinical and community support programs.
Funds raised by each runner will benefit research efforts to improve epilepsy care, educational materials and cost-free seminars, scholarship opportunities, family initiatives, and various events hosted by FACES throughout the year.
