THE STORY:

12 years ago we began an addition onto our home. This is a second marriage for both my husband and I. I have 3 children from my first marriage. My husband has one child from his. And we had a new baby that we conceived on our honeymoon. The current home was in need of some minor fix ups that we would tackle once the addition was complete. We planned the addition to house all of our children comfortably. The house only has 2 bedrooms and one bath. It was within a matter of maybe 2 weeks when my husband fell over 30 feet landing on his coccyx onto a concrete slab. We thank God he survived. And he can walk. But, needless to say he will not be getting up on a roof anymore. People tell us if it weren't for bad luck, we would have no luck at all. But, he is alive. And by rights shouldn't be. He cant do the things with our son like most fathers would do. But, they enjoyed practicing shooting. My parents passed on 2 months apart from each other. And my husband got one of my dads guns. He checked it out, and all seemed fine. He and my son went out to shoot it. When my husband fired it, a piece of the gun broke allowing the bolt to fly backwards like a torpedo into his face. His face was blown apart. And there wasn't anything holding his eye in place. My son was next to him when it happened and still has nightmares. But, he had the sense about him to call 911. My husband is blind in one eye. And his face was reconstructed with titanium. Then almost a year later to the day, we were cleaning out my parents home after it sold to repay an unpaid balance to the nursing home. Some guys were loading appliances on their truck when one went to fall off the back. My husband instinctively reached for it to stop it from falling. He heard a pop in his right arm. His arm turned black and blue from top to bottom. And it began to swell unlike any swelling I had ever seen before. He ended up with upper arm compartment syndrome. And almost lost his arm. He was hospitalized longer for this injury than he was for his face. His arm had to be opened and hooked to a drain because of all of the blood clots. His arm is now healed. And still has some issues with range of motion. Then a little over a month ago my husband was walking when his leg gave out on him. He dislocated his knee. And tore a ligament. During the MRI's they found a cyst. Initially they thought it was cancer. But, since have ruled that out. Thank God. But, he is still in need of repairs for this problem. During all this time, mine was the only income. I was trying to work, take care of sick parents until they passed. And take care of my husband and son. My other children are now grown and have lives of their own. A week after requesting time off for my husbands second facial surgery, I was terminated from my job. I received an email from human resources that stated it was due to absences and "FMLA". Well my FMLA was all approved. That is illegal. But, I cannot find the email I printed out. And my former employer immediately cancels all access to work emails. I diminished all of my retirement while taking care of my parents. Then I had taken a job and fallen on ice in the parking lot and broke my foot. That is healed now. But, I have to be careful of what jobs I now take. They say everything happens for a reason. And I believe this. My husbands last 2 injuries occurred while I was out of work. I also ended up taking care of my sister while she was struggling with losing her job after being diagnosed with cancer. And I have been taking care of my mother in law for the past month due to the progression of her ALS. The reason I am looking for help, is because our house is falling apart around us. I wont let my son sleep in his room due to water damage caused by a tropical storm. We can be sitting in the living room and watch the rain coming in. Of course we utilize the typical buckets. The ceiling tiles above our bathtub are about to fall down, again. My husband has been trying to get disability since his original injury. This has been going on for over 10 years in the court system. After being told denied so many times, it went to federal court. Yesterday we were told they remanded it back to state court. So; once again, a waiting game. At this point the addition that had been started is good for kindling wood. And we just need to worry about fixing our roof. And the damage caused by not having repairs done when they were needed. We have one vehicle in need of repairs. I cant remember when we took a vacation. And we don't wear brand name clothing. We just need help with this house. Any help that can be given by anyone would be so greatly appreciated. And you would be in our prayers forever. Thank you.
