"Other than the birth of my child, this program is the best thing that ever happened to me" "This program"-- Fair Tide's Housing program-- allows people like the client quoted above to have a safe place to live while regaining their footing in life. It reduces the stigma of homelessness and allows us to help clients focus on critical issues: education, health, finances, and connection to community resources. We work with low income, working folks to support their efforts to raise their incomes and become self-sufficient.
Lack of affordable housing contributes to homelessness. Here in Maine, one must work 91 hours a week at minimum wage to afford a 2-bedroom market rent. For many, finding work that pays a living wage to afford housing is just a dream. Fair Tide has been able to assist homeless individuals and families in the southern Maine and New Hampshire seacoast area since 2003 by providing affordable housing.
We are very excited to kick off our second year of fundraising through Crowdrise. Last year our goal was to raise enough money to sponsor 365 One Warm Nights. We raised $2,461 (or 80 Warm Nights) toward our $11,315 goal on our Crowdrise page. We are continuing this fundraiser, hoping to reach $5,000 this year, double what we raised last year. Won't you help us?
Help us continue our efforts to make homelessness a memory. We thank you, most sincerely, for offering someone a hand up. Our "One Warm Night " campaign was created to provide the support needed to shelter the homeless at a Fair Tide's apartment. We are seeking donations in increments of $31, the cost to provide a warm bed for one night at Fair Tide. You certainly can give more or less and we thank you in advance for helping us with our mission.
