BENEFITING: WORKPLACE FAIRNESS
Many of us are very happy to have the security of a job during the holidays, but sadly, there are far too many workers who either lose their jobs or face layoffs during the holiday season. Some companies decide to cut budgets and lay off large groups of employees, while others decide to make a "fresh start" in the new year by letting go employees with no warning. Did you know that in many cases, it's perfectly legal to fire an employee without a reason?
If you found out today you were losing your job, where would you turn? Workplace Fairness, through our award-winning website at www.workplacefairness.org, has been a major source of support for workers and their families, providing legal information and the ability to find a local employment lawyer. While we believe that fair treatment of workers is sound public policy and good business practice, unfortunately, some employers don’t.
As you think about year-end contributions, consider supporting Workplace Fairness. Your support allows us to continue providing resources for those workers who need it most during the holiday season. If you and your family members have jobs, one way to show your gratitude is to give someone who doesn't have a job a place to turn.
Our hope for the holidays this year is fewer layoffs and fair treatment for all. Click here to support Workplace Fairness. And we hope you get the gifts that make your holidays cheerful, made possible by good jobs where workers are treated fairly.
