BENEFITING: FUND FOR COMMUNITY PROGRESS
The Fund for Community Progress is Rhode Island's Community Giving Fund - connecting donors to causes they care about. By connecting donors to 25 different charitable agencies in our own communities we all become part of the solution to extinguish poverty, hunger, illiteracy, violence and discrimination.
The Fund works to creatively solve issues at the core; issues such as access to quality Physical and Mental Healthcare: Jane was living in a tent in Pawtucket. Often prostituting to support her cocaine problem, she was encouraged to meet with a Mental Health Association of RI psychiatrist. Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, she was assisted in applying for SSI. Despite one early relapse and a return to jail, she has since remained housed, sober and out of jail, and has reconnected with her children and grandchildren.
Providing support for Emergency & Basic Needs: When a recently immigrated mother fell victim to domestic abuse she and her 2 children were forced to leave everything behind and seek safety in a shelter. When the family finally moved into an apartment in Woonsocket they had nothing: no food, no furniture, no warm clothing or bedding. Seeking food assistance at Connecting for Children and Families (CCF) food pantry, CCF staff was also able to provide her with clothing and household items and to connect her to food and additional basic needs provisions and support.
For more than 30 years, The Fund for Community Progress has been leading Rhode Island in socially responsive philanthropy. One dollar, one donor at a time- together we are helping our neighbors thrive.
