Faithful Friends Bowl-A-Thon
EVENT DATE: Mar 31, 2018
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Apr 10, 2018
Welcome to Faithful Friends' first annual Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser!
THANK YOU for supporting us in serving the children in our city who need us the most.
Faithful Friends is bringing together mentors, kids, family, friends, and coworkers for a few hours of fun on Saturday, March 31st.
The generous donations collected by each team prior to the event will go towards helping Faithful Friends reach our goal of matching 50 more vulnerable children from the Portland-Metro area with loving, caring mentors.
Faithful Friends is a faith-based mentoring program in Portland. The Faithful Friends model addressed the root causes of poverty by targeting our community's young children most in need of support to overcome multiple risk factors that contribute to the vicious cycle of poverty, low educational attainment, teen pregnancy, and incarceration.
Breaking these cycles has ripple effects well beyond the children directly served - to siblings, cousins, friends, classmates, and even future generations.
We recruit volunteer individuals, couples, and families from within local churches to be matched with some of our community's most vulnerable children for a minimum one-year mentoring relationship. We target younger children (ages six to nine) who are demonstrating significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral risk factors with the goal of connecting them to a supporting and consistent adult mentor. Mentors help them discover their value and unique place in the world before problematic behaviors lead to entrenchment in the social service system.
***All donations are tax-deductible***
