BENEFITING: Great March for Climate Action
EVENT DATE: May 24, 2014
As you can see, I've reached my fundraising goal and I'm actually exceeding it. So please, if you are still interested in donating to the Climate March in some way, give to another marcher or to the Climate March directly.
You can find the Climate March's fundraising page here: http://www.crowdrise.com/ClimateMarch
I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York, near Seneca Lake, and I am now 18 and attending college in the same region. Although I have traveled to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and many other states in America, I still believe that the Finger Lakes region is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My nature-saturated childhood inadvertently, but not surprisingly, led me into an adolescence and an adulthood in which I became very concerned with protecting the environment.
I want to march to show the world that I am serious about protecting my home, about protecting the planet as a whole. I want to march to help speed up change in our society. As someone who looks forward to becoming mother, I want to march so that someday I can watch my kids enjoy the outdoors the way I did when I was young.
I cannot stand to watch the region I grew up in fall prey to pollution and climate change. So, I will walk.
