EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2012
I started to run in 2005, mostly because my co-workers were running on a daily basis and I thought, I could do this too. In 2007, I ran my first marathon - the Marine Corp Marathon - in Washington, DC. It was one of the biggest accomplishments of my life to date. Unfortunately, because of the distance, I did not have any family or friends there to cheer me on. One year later, I joined the masses and ran the Hartford Marathon, this time with my future wife there to cheer me on. I swore I would never run another one again. Now, in 2012, I have the opportunity to run one of the greatest marathons in the country, in my hometown of Boston, and this time, have the support of my family and friends as I cross the finish line.
Some things have changed in my life that has made me re-think running what will be my 3rd marathon in 5 years. That superfan that made me signs and yelled my name as I crossed the finish line in Hartford has not only become my wife, she has also made me the father of the most incredible 15 month old little girl and of another little one on his/her way this summer. Knowing how much being a dad has changed my life, and how blessed I feel to have healthy, happy children that are thriving in the home that we are able to provide, I wanted to do what I could to make sure that all children are so lucky. Running the Boston Marathon will allow me the opportunity to accomplish another personal goal of mine, all while supporting a great charity like Families First.
I hope you will join me in raising $5000 for a wonderful cause...you donate the money, I'll do all the hard work :) I thank you, in advance, for your help.
