BENEFITING: Family Hospice and Palliative Care
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
I am running the Pittsburgh Marathon to raise money for Family Hospice in honor of my late father, Tom "Burhead" Farrington. My Dad always helped friends and families when they encountered difficult times and this fundraiser is a way to keep his spirit alive. The money we raise for Family Hospice will help the cancer patients and their families through these most difficult times.
Family Hospice treated my dad with amazing care and respect during his final days and they continue to offer support to our family today.
More about Family Hospice:
At Family Hospice and Palliative Care, your family is our family. Our services and programs give patients the most advanced end-of-life care available today. This is the Family Hospice promise. Family-centric care is designed to ease the pain, symptoms and stress of chronic or life-limiting illness or injury 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All monies raised directly benefit the more than 3,100 people with life-limiting illness in Family Hospice’s care annually. In 2015, Family Hospice provided more than $96,000 in uncompensated care (uncovered by insurance) and more than $138,000 in bereavement services, such as one-day camps for grieving children. Family Hospice is the largest non-profit hospice provider in PA, caring for those in a nine county radius since 1980.
