First of all I would like to thank you for scrolling down and taking your time to visit my fundraising page. My name is Jem, a 24 year-old Filipino currently based in the Philippines. When I saw Crowdrise through yahoo, I did not hesitate to click on the link. Edward Norton is also my family's hero so that also inspired me to click on the link of your website. Joking aside and to cut my story short (I would be writing a 1,000-page novel if I would do the long version), My mom, Nenita was diagnosed with Cancer of the Uterus (currently stage 4) way back before I was born (so about 24 years ago). My brother, Ced, was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder last 2005. My sister, E.C. or Izi, was diagnosed with having a slipped disc on her spine (lumbars 4 and 5) last 2009. Basically, my whole family except for my father and I have been diagnosed with different sickness. My mom did not undergo through any operation since she was also diagnosed with type II Diabetes and Hypertension thus, undergoing chemotherapy would just shorten her life span. She just lived up to today with prayers and a positive way on looking at life. My brother has been on and off his medicines (Quetiapine and Divalproex) because of financial struggles so he ended up having a total of five (5) relapses for the past 9 years (most recent was on June 30, 2014). My sister was scheduled to have an open-back surgery (amounting to around 700,000 Philippine Pesos or 16,241.30 US$ to be exact. 400,000 for the 4 titanium discs (100k each) and 300,000 for hospital bills) last February 2014 but also due to financial struggles, we needed to postpone the operation and an alternative cosmetic operation (liposuction) was done. She underwent operation last June 2014 and the second phase was done just a couple of days ago (July 28, 2014). We are currently on a financial crisis due to the fact that I am the only member of the family who is capable of working since both my siblings are already considered disabled, my mom is still sick of cancer and my dad is already a Senior Citizen (thank God for twenty percent discounts). My life seems to be a good story to tell but I know that there are still other people who has bigger problems than mine. It's just that I want to fix my problem and I thought raising funds with the help of Crowdrise would be somewhat part of the solution. That sums up my real-life story. I apologize for taking too much of your time. I wish you all the best.
