This is why:
"I lost my dad when I was 14. My youngest sibling was only 3. People still don’t understand why I hate the word “sorry.” I still have days where I cry because it still doesn’t make sense why this all happened. All those huge life events, I never realized how hard it would be until they were actually occurring and he wasn’t there. The loss of a parent never goes away, that pain is always there but somehow we keep moving through life hoping they are watching and right bedside us."
These stories are the reason I'm collecting donations to “Give A Memory” to children and teens whose mother or father has died.
“This Tradition Program provides an opportunity to activate memories, not just speak of them. The activity utilizes all five senses and can be a powerful healing tool to help move a child through grief to healing. It represents the very best of child-focused bereavement support services.”
The families we serve are the living testimonials. Family based and child focused, the Tradition Program is designed to meet clinically identified needs for healthy grieving, it’s an ongoing program, serving children every year until age 18.
“Ask any adult who survived the death of a parent during their childhood and they will tell you how the lifelong impact of grief shaped who they are today, and, who they wanted to become.”
One last thing....
What would YOUR child's memory be?
