THE STORY:

Homestead Drama Club wrote -

"Soon I'll be a stranger in a strange new place," is one of the most poignant lines in the musical "Fiddler on the Roof." The Jewish characters sing this line when they find out they are being forced from their homes and made to leave, becoming refugees. This musical takes place in 1909, but the story is still relevant today. The cast and crew of Homestead High School's production of "Fiddler on the Roof" feel that telling the story isn't enough, they need to foster social responsibility among themselves and their audience and help the children in need today. People are being forced out of their homes, according to an NPR radio broadcast, “each minute, 24 people around the world flee their home because of violence or persecution.” In partnering with UNICEF USA, the cast and crew can use theatre to inform people of the refugee crisis in the world and ask them to donate to an amazing cause. NPR says that, “More than half of the world's refugees in 2015 were children,” by partnering with UNICEF USA, we can raise money to help the refugee children of the world. Donate now, or come to our show, "Fiddler on the Roof," February 9, 10 and 11 at 7pm or February 12th at 1pm and donate then. Adults $10 Students $8 $1 of every ticket will be donated to UNICEF USA for the Child Refugee Fund. We encourage you help in your own way as well. Join us for "Fiddler on the Roof" James Barr Performing Arts Center at Homestead High School 5000 W. Mequon Rd. Mequon WI 53092 UNICEF is responding to this crisis across four continents: delivering lifesaving supplies to children and their families fleeing escalating violence in the Middle East and Northern Africa, providing water and tents to create safe spaces for the growing wave of children moving through Europe and working to improve the lives of children fleeing violence and abuse in Central America.
