Stuff About Me:

My Immigrant Journey and Pushups For Charity Riverside

Thanks for your interest and I glad you came to visit us!!

Please take a moment to read my BIG why I push for charity:

Running saved me from a life of being married off at a young age, made to stay home, cook and make babies.

I was born in a small village in Nigeria and was the sixth child of 9, one of six girls in a culture that values boys and I was afraid to have the life of my sisters and my mother. I wanted more. When a missionary in my village introduced me to sports at age 12, I saw the opportunity to break free and I have been running ever since.

Through a lot of hard work and good mentors, I achieved great success. I became the Commonwealth champion in New Zealand in 1990 (400 meters), a world junior champion in 1991 (400 meters), a two-time Olympic athlete and placed 6th in the 400-meter race in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia winning the silver medal with three other teammates in the relay and also competed at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

In 1993 came to America, the greatest country in the world on a full track and field scholarship as a student in Azusa Pacific University where I graduated with a BA in Social Work in 1997. I worked as a children social worker with the Riverside County, California for approximately 8 years.

Finally, in 2011, I decided to pursue my passion for fitness full-time and opened the Village Coach Fitness so everyone could experience the benefits of feeling good, moving better, and being their best physically.

I have always had a love for the Military. When I first came to this country I wanted to become a US Marine, but I could not due to my immigration status. By the time I was ready to join, I was informed by a recruiter that I was too old at the time.  This did not change my love and respect for those who have and still continue to serve this GREAT nation! I consider it an HONOR and a PRIVELEGE to be a small part of giving back to the HEROES of our country by participating in charity events to do whatever I can to help. I know my love and respect for our awesome Men and Women is felt throughout our country and I am PROUD to have you on my side to raise money in support of this worthy cause! Our men and women made this country safe for me and others to pursue our dreams. Now, let’s go show them what we’ve got and start PUSHING!!!
